R. Kelly Hospitalized In What Lawyers Call An Ongoing Prison Assassination Plot

R. Kelly has been hospitalized after what his lawyer claims was an assassination attempt involving an overdose of his medication administered by prison officials. The incident occurred while Kelly was serving time at a federal facility in North Carolina following his 2021 conviction for racketeering and sex trafficking. His legal team alleges that his life is in danger due to actions by the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and has filed multiple court motions requesting his transfer to home detention for safety.

The legal documents suggest that BOP officials previously solicited another inmate to kill Kelly in exchange for freedom. This inmate allegedly warned Kelly about the threat. In response, Kelly was placed in solitary confinement, which his attorney argues is an inappropriate measure for someone facing threats of violence. Kelly’s attorney has been seeking a presidential pardon for his client and has accused the Department of Justice of corruption.

The government has dismissed Kelly’s requests for home detention as lacking seriousness and disrespectful to the victims of his crimes. Meanwhile, Kelly’s legal team detailed in court filings that upon hospitalization, he was found to have been given an overdose of his medication, and doctors discovered blood clots. Despite medical advice to keep him under care, Kelly was reportedly returned to solitary confinement. The situation remains a contentious legal battle, with Kelly’s attorneys continuing to push for intervention.
