Columbia, SC — The Columbia community is heartbroken following the tragic loss of 12-year-old Jaysen Carr, a student at Hand Middle School. Known for his bright smile, kind heart, and love for learning, Jaysen’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his classmates, teachers, and loved ones.

Jaysen was described by those who knew him as a respectful, funny, and compassionate young man who had big dreams for the future. He was deeply loved by his family, admired by his peers, and valued by his teachers. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or participating in school activities, Jaysen’s presence brought joy to those around him.

Hand Middle School released a statement expressing their condolences and offering support to students and staff as they process the tragic news. “Jaysen was a part of our school family, and his loss is deeply felt. We are working with counselors to provide emotional support for anyone in need during this time of grief,” the school said.

While the circumstances surrounding Jaysen’s passing have not been made fully public, the community has come together in an outpouring of love and remembrance. Vigils, memorials, and social media tributes have highlighted just how much of an impact this young life made in such a short time.

A GoFundMe or donation page may be established to support the Carr family with funeral expenses, and local churches and organizations have stepped in to provide assistance.

As Columbia continues to rally around the Carr family, this tragedy serves as a heartbreaking reminder of how precious and fragile life is. Jaysen Carr may have only spent 12 years on this earth, but the love he shared and the joy he spread will never be forgotten.
