During a period of personal reflection, Kanye West has removed several controversial songs from major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. Tracks such as “HALLELUJAH,” “WW3,” and “COUSINS” have disappeared from his official accounts. The decision follows a series of contentious actions and statements, particularly songs with antisemitic content.
The removal was first noted by yeunrlsd, who pointed out that these tracks are no longer available on streaming services. While Apple Music has also taken down the songs, a music video for “COUSINS” remains accessible. Unlike the other tracks, “COUSINS” deals with a disturbing personal anecdote from West’s childhood, revealed in a song released earlier this year. The track sparked a wide range of reactions, from criticism and jokes to support from artists like A$AP Ferg, who expressed empathy and encouraged understanding of West’s struggles.
Kanye’s recent actions appear to coincide with a public shift in his stance toward the Jewish community. He visited Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, seeking to make amends and take accountability for his previous behavior. During the meeting, West acknowledged grappling with bipolar disorder, which he said contributed to his extreme actions and disregard for the impact on himself and others.
Rabbi Pinto praised West’s willingness to admit his mistakes and work toward reconciliation, emphasizing the importance of growth and building bridges. While not everyone may be ready to accept West’s efforts at redemption, his recent steps show an intention to address past wrongs and move forward in a more positive direction.
