“O Give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.” Psalm 107:1
The daily duties of life sometimes become a little exhausting with day-to-day obligations and
duties. My work duties as a teacher often included extracurricular activities. Classroom duties,
extracurricular activities, and home life kept me busy and exhausted.
One day while enjoying a day off, I began to walk around the home thinking of how God had
provided for my family. I sat and began meditating on God and His Goodness. I began looking
around at the many blessings that I often overlooked due to my hectic schedule. I began thinking
about where I could have been or should have been were it not for the Goodness of God, His mercy,
and His grace. I recognized it was only because of God’s Infinity mercy that my family and I had
come this far. There are things that happen in your life that you know beyond any doubt it was only
because of God! It was at that moment; I began thanking and praising God for the blessings though
underserved He had bestowed upon my family. I came to the realization that I had not thanked Him
the way I should. I had not thanked Him the way He deserved. God deserves all the honor and the
praise. He also deserved my time. He deserves our time. We must never forget this.
The Lord told us in Psalms 46: 10 “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted
among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”” God always knows what is best. It is important
to be still and recognize that God Is God. He deserves all the glory, praise, and honor due to His
Name. If I had ten thousand tongues, I could never thank Him enough for all that He has done.
Over the years I have learned when you overextend yourself constantly you don’t always have the
mental capacity to fully take in the blessings you receive. When we neglect to take time out and
meditate on God’s Word, His Love, His Goodness, and His Faithfulness we miss precious time of
thankfulness and gratitude towards the Savior. We must not let this happen. We must never forget
to Thank the Lord for what He has done in our lives. He has done so much.
I took time that day to meditate and appreciate God’s blessings. You know when God does a thing it
is so magnificent it is hard to comprehend. He Is that kind of Awesome! It was at this time; my heart
began to swell. I needed to let God know how thankful I was for His blessings. It hurt me to think
that I had been so consumed with work life and everyday situations that I failed to give Him the
proper praise in which He deserved. At that moment, I wanted to be more intentional in expressing
to the Lord how thankful I was to Him. I never want to miss an opportunity to show God gratitude
and express thankfulness. His blessings were not because I was deserving of anything, but it was
because of His love, mercy, and grace. I recognized that I needed to be more intentional in taking
time out to focus on my God, Savior, and Friend.
Dear Friends, never allow yourself to become so overwhelmed with the cares of this life that you fail
to stop and thank God for His love, protection, and care for you. He Is a Good Father, and He never
lets His children down. He always comes through. Slow down and be still as the Word of God tells
us.
Remember to thank God in the morning, remember to thank God in your quiet moments during the
day, remember to thank God when you arrive home, and remember to thank God before you place
your head on the pillow each night. In every situation good or bad give God thanks, because despite
what is going on in your life God is already working for you. Remember Jesus Is our Problem Solver.
He will work everything out for you according to His Will, and His Will is always what is best. Carry a
heart full of gratitude and thankfulness. God deserves our time, our love, our gratitude, and our
praise. Great is God’s faithfulness towards us each moment of the day.
“Oh Give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.” Psalm 105:1,2 KJV
