Tory Lanez Hospitalized After Prison Stabbing Incident

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was hospitalized on May 12, 2025, following a stabbing incident at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Lanez, who is serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion, was attacked by another inmate around 7:20 a.m. He sustained 14 stab wounds—seven to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed as a result of the attack, necessitating the use of a breathing apparatus. He was transported to a hospital in Bakersfield, where he is now breathing independently and reported to be in stable condition. Lanez has expressed gratitude for surviving the assault.

The motive behind the attack remains under investigation. The prison’s Investigative Services Unit and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office are leading the inquiry, with the Office of the Inspector General also notified.

Lanez was convicted in December 2022 on multiple felony charges related to the July 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion and began serving his sentence in 2023. He is eligible for parole in 2029. (The Sun, New York Post)

This incident has raised concerns about inmate safety and the effectiveness of prison security measures, especially for high-profile individuals. As of now, Lanez remains hospitalized, and further details about the incident are awaited.
