Taylor is determined to protect this new relationship. She mentioned in an interview with Hot 97 that she wants to approach things differently, avoiding unnecessary public exposure because of the negativity that can come from outside influences. She described her relationship with Pierre as healthy, gentle, and one of the best experiences she’s had, emphasizing its safety and warmth.
The end of her marriage to Iman Shumpert wasn’t without complications. The divorce was contentious, with both sides making significant allegations against each other. Taylor’s violation of the gag order resulted in her being liable for Shumpert’s legal fees, totaling $70,000.
The gag order prohibited public discussion of their divorce. Taylor previously addressed the situation in an Instagram video, which she discussed in an interview with The Breakfast Club. She stated that the video was a response to defend herself after Shumpert’s skit suggested she was attempting to take his possessions, portraying her negatively. She alleged that a witness had evidence of a smear campaign against her. Taylor noted that negative headlines seemed to emerge whenever positive developments occurred in her life.
Despite the legal cost, Taylor considers the $70,000 spent on legal fees as worthwhile.
These developments come in the wake of her new album, “Escape Room,” her first in nearly five years, which was released on August 22. The album features contributions from artists such as Taraji P. Henson, Sarah Paulson, La La Anthony, Lucky Daye, and Tyla.
