Scorpions Cancel Shows as Lead Singer Battles Health Issues Amidst Tour Challenges

Scorpions have canceled three shows as lead singer Klaus Meine faces a condition rendering him “unable to sing.”

The band first canceled their April 26 performance in Buenos Aires, Argentina, citing Meine’s suspected laryngitis. Four days later, they canceled a show in Bogota, Colombia, again apologizing to fans. Most recently, the Scorpions canceled their May 3 concert in Quito, Ecuador, stating that the 76-year-old vocalist has not recovered from the virus responsible for the previous cancellations and has been diagnosed with bacterial bronchitis, affecting his ability to sing.

The Scorpions’ tour of Central and South America has two dates remaining: May 6 in Aguascalientes and May 8 in Puebla, Mexico. They will then take a month-long break before resuming their European tour, which runs through the end of July. The band is not scheduled to perform in the U.S. until August.

The year 2025 was intended to be celebratory for the Scorpions, marking their 60th anniversary with extensive touring plans, including a Las Vegas residency initially planned for late February to early March. However, drummer Mikkey Dee’s recovery from life-threatening sepsis forced the residency’s postponement, with new dates set for August.

Adding to the turmoil, former guitarist Michael Schenker announced he would not rejoin the band for the anniversary tour due to an ongoing feud with his brother and current Scorpions guitarist, Rudolf Schenker. Michael criticized Rudolf, describing him as “abusive” and a “bully,” and expressed a desire to distance himself, calling Rudolf “a crazy, weird person.”
