“Wind of Change” Biopic Reveals Cast for Scorpions Iconic Story

“Wind of Change,” the upcoming biopic about the Scorpions, has announced its cast for the iconic German rock band and their associates.

Alexander Dreymon, known for “The Last Kingdom,” will portray guitarist Rudolf Schenker. Ludwig Trepte, from “Generation War,” is set to play lead singer Klaus Meine. Ed Speleers, recognized for his roles in “You” and “Outlander,” will take on the role of guitarist Matthias Jabs. Luke Brandon Field, known for “Interview With the Vampire” and “Jojo Rabbit,” will play drummer Herman Rarebell.

The film also stars Dominic West, from “The Crown” and “The Wire,” as the band’s manager Doc McGhee. David Kross, noted for “The Reader,” will portray Andrej, the band’s friend imprisoned on the other side of the Berlin Wall.

“Wind of Change” will explore the Scorpions’ rise to fame and their pursuit of global unity, centered around their hit ballad “Wind of Change.” Klaus Meine wrote the song after the band performed for 300,000 people at the 1989 Moscow Music Peace Festival, witnessing the end of the Cold War.

Directed by Alex Ranarivelo and produced by ESX Entertainment for Fox Entertainment Studios in association with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the film is currently being shot in London and is slated for a 2025 U.S. theatrical release.

“It’s been an unbelievable journey developing this film, and bringing it to life feels surreal,” ESX Entertainment founder and president Ali Afshar said in a press release. “The Scorpions’ music helped me through difficult times as an Iranian immigrant in America in the early ’80s, and their message of love, peace, and rock ‘n’ roll is more relevant today than ever. This cast is an amazing ensemble of truly great talent. I can’t thank Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment enough for their support, and especially the band — Rudolf, Klaus, and Matthias — for believing in us and trusting us to tell their life story.”
