SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The NFL is expanding its Super Bowl LX musical lineup, announcing that Sting will perform at a Super Bowl-branded concert in San Francisco two days before the game. The show, set for the Palace of Fine Arts, is part of “Super Bowl LX Studio 60,” an intimate event described as a weekend of music at one of the city’s most iconic venues.
Sting, known both as the former lead singer of The Police and for his solo career, will headline the concert, which is organized by the NFL’s hospitality partner, On Location. The event is scheduled ahead of Super Bowl LX, which will take place Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Bad Bunny remains the featured performer for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. The Puerto Rican superstar’s selection has drawn criticism from some political figures, including former President Donald Trump, who said in an interview with Newsmax that he had not heard of the artist. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has defended the choice, calling Bad Bunny “one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world.”
Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation has produced the halftime show since 2019, told TMZ this week that Bad Bunny is widely beloved in the United States, calling criticism of the artist unfounded. “They love him. Don’t let them fool you,” Jay-Z said.
In a related development, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will have a visible presence at the Super Bowl as part of ongoing enforcement efforts targeting undocumented immigrants.
Super Bowl LX airs live Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on NBC and Telemundo and will stream on Peacock and NFL+.
