Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” Tops 2025 Charts Proving Lasting Legacy

Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 album “Rumours” continues to demonstrate enduring popularity nearly five decades after its release, ranking among the top albums on Billboard’s 2025 year-end charts.

“Rumours” was the top catalog album of 2025, a category defined by Billboard as albums more than 18 months old. The album outperformed current artists including Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Post Malone in this category. It was also the second most popular rock album of the year, behind “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan.

On Billboard’s Top 100 Rock & Alternative Albums chart, “Rumours” placed third. It ranked No. 9 on the Vinyl Albums chart and No. 40 among the most-streamed albums of 2025. On the Billboard 200, which measures overall album consumption across all formats, “Rumours” was the No. 25 album of the year.

Fleetwood Mac was also the No. 5 most-streamed rock act of 2025, ranked No. 11 among rock and alternative artists, and No. 6 among all duos and groups.

Fleetwood Mac has not released a studio album since 2003’s “Say You Will” and has not performed live since 2019. The group’s sustained chart success reflects its lasting influence and continued fan interest.

Following the death of longtime keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie in November 2022, surviving members Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood have stated that Fleetwood Mac is no longer active. Nonetheless, speculation about a reunion continues among fans, underscoring the band’s ongoing cultural relevance and popularity, as reflected in Billboard’s data.
