Eric Clapton has added another U.S. concert date to his 2025 schedule: Sept. 5 at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Clapton will perform at the Mershon Auditorium on the university’s campus.
Tickets will be available starting Friday, June 27. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Crossroads Centre Antigua, an addiction recovery center founded by Clapton.
In 2025, Clapton has already performed in Japan, the U.K., Italy, and France, but he has not played any U.S. shows since October of last year. The Ohio State concert marks the beginning of a brief U.S. tour in September. Following the Ohio State performance, Clapton will play in Cleveland; Nashville, Tennessee; Philadelphia; Boston; New York City; and Uncasville, Connecticut. The Wallflowers will open for all of Clapton’s U.S. concerts, except for the Ohio State show.
Clapton has previously expressed his reluctance to tour, citing travel difficulties. “The road has become unbearable,” he told Rolling Stone in 2014. “It’s become unapproachable, because it takes so long to get anywhere. It’s hostile—everywhere: getting in and out of airports, traveling on planes and in cars.” In 2013, Clapton said, “When I’m 70, I’ll stop. I won’t stop playing or doing one-offs, but I’ll stop touring, I think.” Clapton is currently 80 years old.
