Zoox Partners with Sphere to Launch Autonomous Robotaxi Service in Las Vegas

Zoox has been named the official autonomous ride-hail partner of Sphere in Las Vegas, with plans to launch a Zoox-branded pick-up and drop-off zone at the venue by early 2026. This partnership will allow visitors to Sphere, a major destination known for its immersive art and technology experiences, to use Zoox’s fully autonomous robotaxi service.

Zoox began offering its robotaxi service in Las Vegas in September, providing free rides from locations such as Resorts World, TopGolf, New York-New York, Luxor, and Area 15 under interim authority from the Nevada Transportation Authority. Before Zoox can expand its service, begin charging fares, and operate up to 100 vehicles, it must complete its permit application and comply with regulatory requirements.

Zoox’s robotaxis are unique in that they have no steering wheels or pedals and feature four inward-facing seats. The vehicles can travel up to 75 mph in either direction and are equipped with advanced technologies, including crab steering, sliding doors, onboard computers, sensors, and cameras. Customers can hail rides via a smartphone app, similar to other ride-hailing services.

The addition of Sphere to Zoox’s service area is part of a broader expansion planned for early next year, with the ultimate goal of providing seamless autonomous transportation to key destinations across Las Vegas. Zoox has been developing and testing its driverless vehicle technology in the city since 2019, operating from its 190,000-square-foot headquarters in southwest Las Vegas.
