Wiseguys Comedy Club Bids Farewell to Arts District with Final Shows

Wiseguys Comedy Club, located in the Arts District at 1511 S. Main Street, is set to close its doors after its last shows from June 27-29, headlined by Jon “Polar Bear” Gonzalez. This venue, which opened in 2021, is the first and only comedy club in the Arts District, but its operations are being consolidated with the larger Wiseguys Town Square location.

Keith Stubbs, the proprietor, has decided to funnel bookings to the 350-capacity Town Square venue, which has been performing well. In contrast, the Arts District venue accommodates 200 guests. Stubbs has secured a 10-year lease at Town Square, allowing for more frequent shows, while the lease in the Arts District was set to expire this year.

The property owners, Plaza CEO Jonathan Jossel and Tao Group’s Jason Strauss, have plans for the site, potentially including residential apartments.

Stubbs, who also operates Wiseguys clubs in Ogden, Salt Lake City, and Jordan Landing, Utah, assures that all staff from the Arts District venue will transition to the Town Square location, with no job losses anticipated. Despite challenging times, Stubbs remains optimistic about the future of his consolidated operations.
