Vegas Loop Expansion: Direct Connection to Harry Reid Airport Unveiled

The Boring Company is progressing with plans to extend its Vegas Loop to connect with Harry Reid International Airport. Recent building permit applications outline a tunnel from a station at 4744 Paradise Road to a new site just south of Tropicana Avenue at 5032 Palo Verde Road. This site is strategically located across from an airport parking lot, aligning with Boring Co.’s planned station map.

The company plans to acquire a 1.72-acre plot at the Palo Verde address from Monarch Enterprises to establish the Vegas Loop station. The 4744 Paradise site, already owned by Boring Co., is currently being developed to connect to the Las Vegas Convention Center via the University Center Loop. This route will include stops at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and other key locations, servicing eventgoers and enhancing transportation options.

The planned airport station will complement the J Dapper Airport Center, which includes a nine-level parking garage and a shuttle system. Preliminary discussions for integrating this station into the broader airport infrastructure are underway.

The airport area, owned by the Clark County Department of Aviation, is set to become a North Multimodal Center as part of a larger modernization effort. This center will facilitate easy transfers for Vegas Loop riders and include a new transit hub with ride-share and public transportation options.

The connection to the airport is a significant development for the Vegas Loop, offering a direct link that the Las Vegas Monorail lacked due to FAA clearance issues. The Vegas Loop, featuring Tesla vehicles in a point-to-point underground system, allows passengers to travel directly to their destinations without intermediate stops, unlike the monorail.

Currently, the Vegas Loop serves the Las Vegas Convention Center and nearby resorts, with plans to expand to 68 miles of tunnels and 104 stations covering key areas like the Strip, downtown Las Vegas, and Reid airport. This expansion aims to enhance the transportation network across the city and improve accessibility to major attractions and venues.
