Nevada Ranks 4th in Most Pedestrian Fatalities

The data from 2024 highlights concerning trends in pedestrian fatalities in Nevada, with the state ranking fourth highest in pedestrian fatality rates across the U.S. Despite a nationwide decrease of 4.3% in pedestrian deaths from 2023, Nevada’s rate increased, reaching 3.46 deaths per 100,000 people with 113 fatalities. Clark County accounted for the majority of these deaths.

However, preliminary data for the first half of 2025 suggests a potential improvement. By June 30, 2025, pedestrian deaths in Nevada had decreased by nearly 20% compared to the same period in 2024, with 50 deaths reported statewide. This indicates a promising trend towards reducing pedestrian fatalities. The overall fatalities in the state, including all types of traffic-related deaths, also show a decrease, with 194 recorded in the first half of 2025 compared to 419 in 2024.

Efforts to improve pedestrian safety appear to be having an impact, but ongoing initiatives will be crucial to maintain and enhance this downward trend.
