The tragic incident in Manhattan involved Shane Tamura, who fatally shot four people at an office building, including the NFL headquarters, before ending his own life. Tamura used an AR-15-style rifle, purchased from his supervisor at the Horseshoe Las Vegas, and drove across the country for the attack. The police found a note on him claiming he had CTE, a condition linked to brain injuries from contact sports, and accusing the NFL of hiding such dangers.
Tamura, who had a history of mental illness, had been previously arrested for a misdemeanor trespassing charge but the case was dismissed. His supervisor, who sold him the rifle, has not been charged with any crimes. Police found psychiatric and other medications in Tamura’s Las Vegas apartment, along with a suicide note apologizing to his mother.
The victims included a New York City police officer, a security guard, and two employees from Blackstone and Rudin Management. An NFL employee was also wounded but is expected to recover. The investigation continues with detectives in Las Vegas searching for more information.
