Major 215 Beltway Expansion Begins in Henderson This Weekend Will Run Until 2028

Construction on the 215 Beltway in Henderson is set to begin this weekend, focusing on widening the stretch between Stephanie Street and Pecos Road. The $160 million project will start at 9 p.m. on Sunday, aiming to enhance traffic flow and capacity. During the day, three lanes in each direction will remain open, while at night, typically from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the highway will be reduced to two lanes per direction.

The plan involves expanding the Beltway by two lanes in each direction, increasing the highway from three lanes and an auxiliary lane to five lanes and an auxiliary lane. Additionally, on-ramps and off-ramps will be upgraded with more turn lanes at key intersections such as Pecos, Green Valley Parkway, Valle Verde Drive, and Stephanie.

A significant part of the project includes transforming the intersection of Green Valley and the 215 Beltway into a diverging diamond interchange. This design allows vehicles to turn left onto freeway on-ramps without stopping, improving traffic flow.

The project also features a pedestrian bridge over Green Valley at Village Walk Drive, connecting both sides of the outdoor shopping center, The District at Green Valley Ranch. This bridge will facilitate safe crossing for pedestrians and cyclists without disrupting vehicle traffic.

Work on the Green Valley section, including the pedestrian bridge, will commence after January 1 and is expected to occur at night. The entire project is anticipated to be completed by 2028.
