Las Vegas experienced its fourth consecutive monthly decline in visitor numbers in April, as reported by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). Despite this trend, some economic indicators like the average daily room rate and the number of visitors arriving by car remained stable.
In April, 3.3 million people visited Las Vegas. Kevin Bagger, the LVCVA’s research director, noted that a rise in convention attendance, along with events such as Wrestlemania, helped mitigate a larger drop in visitor numbers. He mentioned that despite a robust convention segment, factors like consumer uncertainty and changing federal policies contributed to a 5.1 percent year-over-year decline in visitation.
Harry Reid International Airport also saw a decrease in passenger volume for the third consecutive month, with 4.7 million passengers in April, marking a 3.6 percent drop from April 2024. This decline affected both domestic and international traffic, with three of the city’s top five airlines experiencing reduced passenger numbers. Southwest Airlines and United Airlines saw slight decreases of less than 1 percent, while Spirit Airlines experienced a significant drop of 26.8 percent.
