Las Vegas Luxury Home with Massive Underground Cold War Bunker Listed for Sale

A unique piece of Cold War history is now on the market in Las Vegas: a two-story home featuring a massive underground luxury bunker, listed for $8.5 million. Known as the Las Vegas Underground House, the property offers two bedrooms and two bathrooms above ground on a one-acre lot, complemented by a four-car garage.

The true centerpiece lies below—the 14,620-square-foot bunker, built in the 1970s by businessman Jerry Henderson and architect Jay Swayze. Called “Atomitat,” this Cold War-era structure was designed to be fully self-sufficient. The underground home features three bedrooms, four bathrooms, an indoor pool, putting green, theater, dance floor, bar, and multiple saunas. Adding to its unique ambiance, the bunker includes a programmable faux sky that can simulate daylight cycles, creating a comfortable and surreal living environment.

Holly Erker of IS Luxury is handling the listing for this one-of-a-kind property that blends mid-century luxury with Cold War intrigue.
