A new study by Zumper has ranked Henderson as the worst city in the country for singles among the 100 largest metro regions. The study evaluated cities based on eight factors, giving the most weight to the percentage of singles and the cost of a one-bedroom apartment, along with restaurants per capita, nightlife per capita, and overall cost of living. Henderson finished last, with just 28 percent of residents identified as single and low rankings for restaurants, nightlife, and entertainment.
Crystal Chen, a Zumper study author, noted that Henderson’s suburban character attracts more families and couples, making it less appealing for singles seeking social or dating opportunities. Nearby Las Vegas ranked 82nd, while Reno came in 53rd. The top cities for singles, according to Zumper, are St. Louis, Knoxville, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh.
In response, a spokesperson for the City of Henderson highlighted the community’s high quality of life, safety, and recognition by outlets such as HGTV, noting that over 90 percent of residents rate Henderson as a great place to live and raise a family. The city cited award-winning parks and a variety of restaurants and entertainment options, especially along the Water Street District, as key features that contribute to its appeal.
