The largest casino-hotel construction project currently underway on the Las Vegas Strip is making steady progress toward a scheduled 2027 opening. Hard Rock Las Vegas President Joe Lupo reports that 28 of the planned 42 stories of the Guitar Hotel Las Vegas have already been constructed on the site of the former Mirage casino. The lower 100 feet of the tower will contain the first five floors, while the remaining 560 feet will house 675 hotel rooms and suites.
The signature guitar-shaped tower, now visible from both ends of the resort corridor, is being outfitted with two shades of blue glass panes, with nearly a dozen floors already fitted. This project is part of Hard Rock International’s complete transformation of the property into Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, which includes demolishing the previous tri-tower structure and constructing the new guitar tower.
The building that formerly housed The Mirage is also being renovated, with blue glass panes added to match the new tower. The tri-tower has been fully gutted, and every aspect of its design will change upon reopening as Hard Rock, including larger standard hotel rooms and an expanded casino floor.
Once complete, the resort will feature nearly 3,600 hotel rooms, about 175,000 square feet of gaming space, two spas, multiple pools, live entertainment venues, and a wide variety of restaurants, lounges, and retail outlets.
Hard Rock International, owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, purchased The Mirage from MGM Resorts International for $1.075 billion in 2022. Construction began immediately after The Mirage closed on July 17, 2024. The newly reimagined Hard Rock Las Vegas is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2027.
