Final Funding Now In Place For Las Vegas Athletics Ballpark Construction

The construction of the Athletics’ new ballpark in Las Vegas is making significant progress, with the cost estimated to reach at least $2 billion. Team owner John Fisher and his family have secured the necessary funding to cover costs beyond the $380 million cap on public financing. This financial plan includes contributions from investors, such as a recent arrangement with Aramark Sports + Entertainment.

Currently, foundational work is underway at the stadium site, located at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. Crews have completed approximately half of the deep foundational work, including the installation of nearly 600 foundation pilings. Vertical construction is expected to commence soon, pending the completion of permitting processes.

The Las Vegas Stadium Authority is actively overseeing the project, with Jason Frierson recently appointed to chair the Baseball Stadium Community Oversight Committee. This committee is responsible for ensuring compliance with community benefits requirements, including diversity in the workforce and contracting with small, locally owned businesses. The project has already surpassed its target by contracting 16 percent of work to such businesses, translating to an additional $7 million in local economic impact.

As construction progresses, the stadium’s development is becoming increasingly visible, marking a significant step toward realizing the vision for this new sports venue.
