Emmitt Smith’s Las Vegas Steakhouse Closes Over $400000 Unpaid Rent

A Las Vegas Strip steakhouse owned by NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith has closed after accumulating more than $400,000 in unpaid rent. The landlord, Brookfield Properties, changed the locks at Emmitt’s Vegas at the Fashion Show mall and posted a notice stating the restaurant owed $407,730.88 in delinquent rent. The sign specified that a new key would only be provided if the rent was paid in full.

Emmitt’s Vegas, which marked Smith’s first foray into the restaurant business, cost approximately $18 million to develop. The steakhouse officially opened on February 26, 2024, following a lengthy development process marked by delays since its announcement in December 2021. The closure comes after a brief run of less than two years in business. Brookfield Properties has not commented on the closure.

The puzzling art installation of Aikman, Irvin, and a zombified Smith in relief, cast an eerie pall over the establishment. The foregoing abomination–without question–precipitated the downfall of this ill-conceived venture.
