“1969 Live Concert: The King Returns” is set to captivate audiences at Westgate’s International Theater in Las Vegas, commemorating the 56th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s debut at the venue. Scheduled for Thursday, the event will feature two performances at 7 and 9 p.m., recreating Presley’s iconic 1969 opening night. The show promises a meticulous note-by-note rendition despite the limited video footage available from the original performance. Fans will be treated to classics like “Suspicious Minds,” “Love Me Tender,” and “Jailhouse Rock.”
Attendees are encouraged to embrace the 1969 theme with era-appropriate attire. Initially, tickets were priced to match the original 1969 rates, but as demand surged, only a few remain available at current prices ranging from $65 to $418 on Ticketmaster.
Travis Powell, a renowned Elvis tribute artist, will headline the show. Powell, who has previously collaborated with Elvis’s original group, The Sweet Inspirations, has also performed in the “The King Comes Home” tribute at Westgate Cabaret, which will continue to run shows at 6:30, 8, and 10 p.m.
The surrounding celebrations at Westgate include a night-long free Elvis film marathon, running until 10 a.m. the next day, marking a first for the hotel. Additionally, a “Living Legends” autograph session will take place at the International Bar, featuring Jerry Scheff, Elvis’s bassist from the 1969 show, along with Elvis’s stepbrother David Stanley and former girlfriend Mindi Miller.
This event is part of Westgate’s ongoing tribute to Elvis, celebrating what would have been his 90th birthday earlier this year, ensuring the King’s legacy continues to shine brightly in Las Vegas.
