Ellis Island, an off-Strip casino-hotel in Las Vegas, has unveiled the first phase of its $35 million expansion and renovation project just in time for the Labor Day weekend influx. Known for its affordable drinks, good food, and low table minimums, the casino has nearly doubled its gaming area. The new space features a 25-seat center bar beneath a large LED screen, a redesigned high-limit slot area, and a permanent home for Boomer’s Sportsbook. Additionally, the building’s exterior now boasts an impressive digital facade.
The casino aims to retain its value-driven approach, which has made it popular among locals and industry workers. This commitment is reflected in their continued offer of low-entry slot tournaments and affordable table games. The next phase of the renovation includes the opening of a rooftop bar, The Deck, set to launch in time for the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix in November.
The Ellis family has owned the casino since the late 1960s and emphasizes maintaining the property’s unique charm while enhancing the guest experience. Steelman Partners and Bentar Construction, both Las Vegas-based firms, have managed the design and construction efforts. The expansion introduces nearly 250 new slot machines and features design elements aimed at creating an energetic and inviting atmosphere. The final phase of the renovation will refresh the remaining casino floor by the end of the year.
