Chad Ollinger, 41, a reality television star from the Discovery Channel series “Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch,” is facing a murder charge after his cellmate was found dead at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas late Friday night, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Corrections officers discovered the male inmate lying motionless in the cell around 11:20 p.m. and observed apparent blunt force injuries. The inmate was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the identity of the deceased as of Saturday.
An investigation by homicide detectives revealed that a physical altercation had occurred between Ollinger and his cellmate prior to the discovery. Jail records indicate Ollinger had been in custody since October 27 on a fugitive charge from another state and also faced a contempt of court charge.
Ollinger was scheduled to make his initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Sunday but was not brought to court due to disruptive behavior. His court appearance is now set for Tuesday. “Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch,” which follows Ollinger and his father as they search for gold and artifacts in Utah, recently concluded its fifth season.
