Cheap Trick Returns to Las Vegas for Live at Budokan Anniversary Shows

Cheap Trick, the iconic rock band from Rockford, Illinois, is returning to Las Vegas for a special weekend event at The Venetian Theatre on April 17-18. These shows will celebrate the band’s legendary 1978 “Live at Budokan” album, recorded in Tokyo at the Nippon Budokan. The album’s standout track, “I Want You to Want Me,” became a top-10 hit and remains one of Cheap Trick’s signature songs.

The current lineup features founding members Robin Zander (vocals), Rick Nielsen (guitar), and Tom Petersson (bass). Daxx Nielsen, Rick Nielsen’s son, has been the touring drummer for over 15 years, stepping in for original drummer Bun E. Carlos, who was with the band from 1973 to 2010.

Cheap Trick’s catalog includes classics like “Surrender,” “The Flame,” and “Dream Police.” The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

Las Vegas has long been a favorite stop for Cheap Trick, with past performances at venues such as the International Theater at Westgate, the Las Vegas Hilton showroom (now International Theater), where they performed the acclaimed “Sgt. Pepper Live” Beatles tribute, the Fremont Street Experience, Pearl at the Palms, Paris Theater, and The Strat Showroom.

Tickets for the April shows are available at Ticketmaster.com.
