After F1 Oakland Athletics Owner John Fisher Shares Vision for A’s Future in Las Vegas Sports Scene

Oakland Athletics owner John Fisher attended the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix and expressed enthusiasm for the future of his Major League Baseball team in Las Vegas. Fisher, a fan of both F1 and Las Vegas, was captivated by the idea of F1 on the Strip and now looks forward to integrating the A’s into the city’s vibrant sports and entertainment scene.

Fisher confirmed the A’s plan to partner with the Las Vegas Grand Prix once they begin playing in their new 33,000-seat stadium, set to open in 2028. He pointed to the collaborative efforts between the Grand Prix and teams like the Raiders and Golden Knights as a model and highlighted his own team’s growing presence in the community, with players and coaches already spending significant time in Las Vegas.

The new ballpark, located on the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard, is progressing on schedule and close to budget. Significant construction milestones, such as pouring the lower concourse deck and erecting structural supports, have brought the vision closer to reality. Fisher remarked on the pride and dedication of the construction crew, which will grow to 1,800 workers at peak.

Fisher is excited about the ballpark’s unique location, with views of iconic Las Vegas landmarks through a massive outfield glass wall, and envisions the A’s as an integral part of the city’s entertainment and resort ecosystem. He mentioned plans to partner with major resort groups, including MGM Grand and Bally’s Corp., reinforcing the team’s commitment to being a key asset on and off the Strip.

Since relocating to Las Vegas, Fisher and his family have been impressed by the hospitality and community pride, noting the widespread excitement for the A’s and the city’s growing status as a sports capital. Fisher emphasized the importance of both local and visiting fan support, expressing confidence that the A’s will thrive as part of Las Vegas’ dynamic and supportive community.
