Motorists should prepare for several weeks of lane and ramp closures along a four-mile section of the 215 Beltway due to the 215 preservation project led by the Nevada Department of Transportation. The project involves milling and paving the roadway and applying a polymer overlay between Interstate 15 and Windmill Lane.
The closures will begin this weekend with the following overnight lane restrictions:
- From Sunday to Thursday nights, the eastbound 215 will be reduced to two lanes between Windmill and I-15, narrowing to one lane from midnight to 4 a.m.
- From 8 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday, the eastbound 215 off-ramp to the Airport Connector will be reduced to one lane.
- From 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, the Las Vegas Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound 215 will be closed.
- On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the Warm Springs Road on-ramp to eastbound 215 and the southbound Airport Connector on-ramp to eastbound 215 will be closed.
- From 8 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, the eastbound 215 off-ramp to Warm Springs will be closed.
- From 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, the Las Vegas Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound 215 will be closed.
Two extensive work weekends are also planned in alternating directions:
- From 7 p.m. July 18 to 10 p.m. July 20, eastbound 215 between I-15 and Windmill will be reduced to two lanes.
- From 7 p.m. July 25 to 10 a.m. July 27, westbound 215 between Windmill and I-15 will be reduced to two lanes.
The project also includes structural repairs, upgrades to traffic signals and lighting, and improvements to intelligent transportation systems. Completion is anticipated in the winter.
