Dua Lipa wrapped up the European leg of her Radical Optimism Tour with a heartfelt moment in Dublin over the weekend. Performing at Aviva Stadium on Friday night (June 27), she paid tribute to Irish music legend Sinéad O’Connor with a special cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U.”
Taking to the extended part of her stage that reaches into the crowd, Dua introduced the iconic ballad, telling fans it was an honor to perform it. In fan-recorded clips, she encouraged the audience to sing along if they knew the words.
Sinéad O’Connor, a Dublin native who passed away in 2023, made “Nothing Compares 2 U” a global hit in 1990. Originally written by Prince, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks and propelled her album I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Dua’s emotional Dublin performance followed recent surprises on the London leg of her tour, where she brought out Jamiroquai for “Virtual Insanity” and Charli XCX for “360.” The Spice Girls also sent their support, wishing her luck during her sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium, saying, “That’s Girl Power!!”
The Radical Optimism Tour hits North America this September, kicking off with two nights in Toronto before heading to cities like Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, New York, and more.
