Planet Fitness has reintroduced its High School Summer Pass program, offering free gym access to teenagers aged 14-19 from now until August 31. With over 2,700 locations across the U.S. and Canada participating, the initiative aims to promote youth health and wellness during the summer months. This program arrives at a time when concerns about teen stress levels are rising, with a Planet Fitness survey indicating that 66% of parents worry about their teen’s stress, while a significant number of teens report increasing stress and anxiety with age.
Exercise has been shown to have a positive impact on mood and emotional well-being, with 90% of teens acknowledging its benefits. A study published in JAMA Pediatrics in 2024 further supports this, suggesting physical fitness may protect against mental health issues like depression and anxiety. This year, Olympic medalist Stephen Nedoroscik has partnered with Planet Fitness to enhance the program’s reach, highlighting the empowerment and confidence that physical activity can provide.
Participants in the program will have access to free fitness training with certified trainers, specialized workouts, and the Planet Fitness app, which offers numerous on-demand exercises. Teens can register online or in-person with parental consent if under 18. Once registered, they can work out independently at their chosen location.
