What’s Currently Happening
Major construction is actively underway on the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas:
-
The centerpiece is a gigantic guitar-shaped hotel tower being built where The Mirage once stood.
-
As of early 2026, crews have completed 28 of the planned 42 stories of the guitar tower’s structure — so the building is more than halfway up and the progress is clearly visible along the Strip.
-
Exterior work is underway, including installation of blue glass panels that will define the finished look.
-
The project is on schedule and on budget and progressing steadily without major delays.
What the Finished Resort Will Be
When complete (target fourth quarter 2027):
✔ A fully transformed Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas replacing The Mirage.
✔ Nearly 3,600 hotel rooms across the original hotel (renovated) and the new guitar tower.
✔ About 175,000 sq. ft. of gaming space (much larger than The Mirage before).
✔ Multiple pools, spas, entertainment venues, restaurants, lounges and retail.
✔ A landmark tower roughly 660 ft tall with 675 rooms/suites.
Why It’s Such a Big Project
-
The iconic Mirage volcano and original theme have been removed to make room for the new resort.
-
The entire property is being stripped, gutted, and rebuilt rather than simply rebranded.
-
It’s one of the largest current construction projects on the Las Vegas Strip — transforming an old classic into a modern integrated resort.
Current Timeline
-
2025–2026: Rapid vertical construction of the guitar tower.
-
Targeted Opening: Late 2027 for the full Hard Rock Las Vegas resort.
