Las Vegas Parking Fines Transformed into School Supply Donations to Aid Education

The city of Las Vegas has introduced a creative initiative to address parking fines and support education. For parking tickets issued between May 19 and June 30, motorists have the option to pay their fines by donating school supplies instead of money. These donations will be given to the Public Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

To settle a parking ticket through this program, individuals must provide new, unwrapped school supplies that are equal to or exceed the value of their fine. The donations, accompanied by a purchase receipt, need to be brought to the Parking Services Offices at 350 S. City Parkway within 30 days of receiving the ticket. Alternatively, supplies can be purchased online and sent directly to the office, ensuring the citation number is included in the delivery notes.

Accepted items for donation cover a wide range of educational supplies, including pencils, pens, erasers, dry erase markers, index cards, paper towels, disinfecting wipes, card stock, copy paper, storage bins, rulers, scissors, pencil sharpeners, post-it notes, loose-leaf paper, books suitable for grades K-12, and educational games. This initiative not only provides a means to deal with parking infractions but also contributes to the educational resources available to local schools.
