XG, the Japanese girl group, announced Tuesday that it will release its first full-length album on Jan. 23, 2026. The group also revealed that a lead single, “GALA,” will be released on Sept. 19.
The announcement was made in an album teaser featuring members Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya and Cocona. The teaser clip included a snippet of music with the phrase, “Everything you do,” repeated throughout.
According to a release, “GALA” is described as a high-energy, runway-inspired anthem characterized by futuristic sounds and vivid visual imagery. The track is set to blend rap, bilingual lyrics, house rhythms and synth textures, aiming to present what the group calls “X GALA,” a reimagining of a high-fashion gala through XG’s perspective.
The album’s release is highly anticipated among fans. XG debuted in March 2022 with the single “Tippy Toes,” followed by the mini-album “New DNA” in September 2023 and “Awe” in November 2024.
Over the past three years, XG has expanded its international presence, performing at Coachella in 2024 and headlining Japan’s a-nation festival in August. The group refers to its genre as “X-pop,” and members have emphasized their close friendship despite their growing fame.
“What makes us extraordinary is that I feel we are able to break free from all these norms and borders that tend to bind us,” Jurin told Soy Kim for XG’s Billboard cover story in 2023. “By that same token, there is a bond between us that transcends a lot of types of challenges, and it’s really amazing to have that.”
