Pop superstar Taylor Swift has donated $1 million to Feeding America to help provide food for families in need ahead of the holidays, the nonprofit organization announced Tuesday.
“We are incredibly grateful for Taylor Swift’s $1 million gift to Feeding America. This holiday season, her continued support is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we unite to end hunger,” Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, Feeding America’s CEO, said in a statement. “When we join together alongside people facing hunger, we can make sure families have a full table this holiday season and beyond.”
Feeding America is a nationwide nonprofit that works to address food insecurity and ensure access to food for people across the United States.
Swift’s donation comes as many low-income families are preparing for changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, in the new year. The changes follow the end of benefits during the six-week government shutdown in October and November, the longest in U.S. history. In 2026, work requirements for SNAP recipients are set to expand under a tax and spending bill signed by former President Donald Trump in July. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the change is expected to result in 2.4 million fewer Americans receiving food stamps in an average month, including 300,000 families with children.
Swift, a 14-time Grammy winner, has a long history of philanthropy. She has previously donated to food banks along her Eras Tour route, supported Beth Stern’s animal charity Beth’s Furry Friends, provided bonuses to her employees, contributed to tornado relief efforts in Tennessee, and assisted a young fan battling cancer, among other charitable acts.
