Olivia Rodrigo Ends ‘Guts’ Tour with Unforgettable Lollapalooza Finale Featuring Weezer

Olivia Rodrigo concluded her global “Guts” tour with a memorable performance at Lollapalooza over the weekend, sharing the stage with Weezer, the first band she ever saw live. During the concert at Chicago’s Grant Park, Rodrigo, 22, expressed her excitement to the crowd and introduced Weezer, comprised of singer/guitarist Rivers Cuomo, guitarist Brian Bell, and bassist Scott Shriner, to perform “Buddy Holly” and “Say It Ain’t So.”

“You always remember your first concert. It’s a very, very special moment,” Rodrigo told the audience. “I remember my first concert. It was a very memorable night. I watched this incredible band, and I am so over the moon because that incredible band is actually here tonight to play a few songs. Will you please say hello to Weezer?”

On Monday, Rodrigo shared a throwback photo from her first Weezer concert, wearing a Weezer T-shirt and protective headphones, alongside a message expressing gratitude for the tour and Weezer’s continued impact on her life. “My first concert and my last weekend of the GUTS tour. Thank you to everyone who came out, and thank you @weezer for still making me this excited all these years later! Cannot believe how lucky I am to be able to play these shows with y’all!” she wrote.

The post included a video of Rodrigo performing “Buddy Holly” with Cuomo and a photo of them playing guitar together. Weezer acknowledged the special moment, commenting, “Full circle moment and an absolute honor, thank you.”

Over the past few years, Rodrigo has performed alongside several musical icons, including Billy Joel at his Madison Square Garden residency in 2022, Natalie Imbruglia in London, Ed Sheeran in June, and David Byrne at Gov Ball. She ended her summer tour with a memorable performance at Glastonbury, where she was joined by her “personal hero,” The Cure’s Robert Smith, for renditions of “Friday I’m in Love” and “Just Like Heaven.”
