Ohio State to Host Penn State in Final Annual Football Showdown November 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s Nov. 1 home football game against Penn State will kick off at noon at Ohio Stadium, the university announced Monday.

The Buckeyes will host the Nittany Lions, who are 0-4 in Big Ten Conference play. Penn State, which is unranked, has lost its last eight meetings with Ohio State and has not beaten the Buckeyes since 2016.

Both teams will be idle in Week 9. Ohio State is coming off a 34-0 win over Wisconsin in Madison, while Penn State lost 25-24 at Iowa.

The Nov. 1 game marks the end of an era, as Ohio State and Penn State will no longer face each other annually under the Big Ten’s new scheduling format. The teams will not meet again until 2028 at Beaver Stadium, ending a streak of 33 consecutive regular-season matchups.

Ohio State’s remaining 2025 football schedule:
— Nov. 1: Penn State, noon
— Nov. 8: at Purdue
— Nov. 15: UCLA
— Nov. 22: Rutgers
— Nov. 29: at Michigan, noon

Penn State began the season ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press preseason poll with national championship aspirations. The Nittany Lions opened with wins over Nevada, Florida International and Villanova, but their season unraveled after a 30-24 double-overtime loss to Oregon at home.

Former head coach James Franklin was fired following subsequent losses to UCLA and Northwestern. Interim coach Terry Smith will lead the team for the remainder of the season as the search for Franklin’s successor continues.
