Ohio Lottery Launches Millionaire for Life Game with Bigger Jackpots and Daily Drawings

CLEVELAND (AP) — Ohioans will soon have a new way to play for a life-changing jackpot with the launch of a multi-state game, Millionaire for Life, the Ohio Lottery announced.

The new game, set to debut in Ohio on Sunday, will hold daily drawings at 11:15 p.m. Ohio is among 31 states introducing Millionaire for Life, according to lottery officials.

Millionaire for Life will replace the multi-state daily draw game Lucky for Life, which will hold its final drawing on Saturday. Lucky for Life offered a grand prize of $1,000 a day for life, or $365,000 a year, and a secondary prize of $25,000 a year for life.

The new game increases the stakes. Millionaire for Life winners will receive $1 million a year for life, and second-tier winners will get $100,000 a year for life.

Tickets for Millionaire for Life will cost $5 each, up from the $2 cost for Lucky for Life.

Players select five numbers from 1 to 58 and one Millionaire Ball number from 1 to 5.

The Ohio Lottery reports the overall odds of winning any prize in Millionaire for Life are 1 in 8.46, with grand prize odds of 1 in 22.9 million. By comparison, Lucky for Life offered overall odds of 1 in 8 and grand prize odds of 1 in 30.8 million.

Like its predecessor, Millionaire for Life allows winners to choose between annuity payments, guaranteed for 20 years, or a one-time lump-sum payment. The lump-sum option is $18 million for the top prize and $2.2 million for the second-tier prize.

The game offers nine prize tiers, with the lowest prizes awarded for matching one white ball plus the Millionaire Ball, or matching two white balls.
