“Lose Control” Breaks Record with 100 Weeks on Billboard Hot 100

Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” has made history as the first song to spend 100 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, according to the chart dated July 26, 2025. The track surpassed Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves,” which held the previous record with 91 weeks on the chart in 2021-22, a record dating back to the chart’s inception on August 4, 1958.

“Lose Control” began its run on the Hot 100 on August 26, 2023, debuting at No. 99. It reached No. 1 for a week in March 2024 and was the top song of the year. As of the latest chart, it is ranked No. 9. The song has also spent 70 weeks in the Hot 100’s top 10, a record since the chart began using electronically tracked data in November 1991. The longest-charting hits have all occurred this decade, with the top 10 longest-charting songs reaching their peaks since 2008.

In addition to its Hot 100 success, “Lose Control,” released on SWIMS Int./Warner Records, topped several Billboard charts, including Radio Songs, Digital Song Sales, Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Airplay, Adult R&B Airplay, and Pop Airplay. It also reached No. 2 on Adult Alternative Airplay and the top five on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S.

The song has outlasted two other Teddy Swims singles that reached the Hot 100’s top 40: “The Door” (No. 24 peak, October 2024) and “Bad Dreams” (No. 30, May 2025). Both tracks also made it to the top 10 on Adult Pop Airplay and Pop Airplay. Another of his hits, “Are You Even Real,” featuring Giveon, led Adult R&B Airplay in April 2025.

“Teddy Swims is a once-in-a-generation talent who defies genres,” said Mike Chester, Warner’s EVP of promotion and commerce, to Billboard last year. “When we began promoting ‘Lose Control,’ we noticed the song resonated across various cultural pockets, building a strong, diverse fanbase.”

Born Jaten Dimsdale in Conyers, Ga., in 1992, Swims made his Billboard chart debut in 2021 and was nominated for best new artist at the Grammy Awards this year. “I love always watching your updates,” Swims said of Billboard News’ weekly Hot 100 recap. “It’s like, ‘Here comes Teddy Swims!’ I hope you never stop saying that. I’m grateful.”
