Joe Jonas Celebrates First Top 10 Solo Album with “Music for People Who Believe in Love”

Joe Jonas has achieved his first top 10-charting solo effort on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart as his second solo album, “Music for People Who Believe in Love,” debuts at No. 3 on the chart dated June 7. The album sold 17,000 copies in the United States in the week ending May 29, according to Luminate. Of that total, vinyl purchases accounted for 4,000, marking a personal best sales week for Jonas as a solo artist on vinyl.

Previously, Jonas released one solo studio album, 2011’s “Fastlife,” which debuted and peaked at No. 15 on the Top Album Sales chart. Jonas is also a member of the Jonas Brothers, who have logged seven top 10s on Top Album Sales, including four No. 1s. Additionally, Jonas is a member of DNCE, which has reached the Top Album Sales chart once, with its self-titled project peaking at No. 14 in 2016.

In other movements within the top 10 of the Top Album Sales chart, Playboi Carti, BAEKHYUN, and Stereolab make notable entries and reentries.

The Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based solely on traditional album sales. The chart has been in existence since May 25, 1991, when Billboard started using electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole metric used by the Billboard 200 albums chart until Dec. 6, 2014, when it transitioned to a methodology incorporating track equivalent album (TEA) units and streaming equivalent album (SEA) units.

Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” remains at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart for a second week, with 28,000 copies sold (down 79% from its debut of 133,000). Playboi Carti’s “MUSIC” reenters at No. 2 with nearly 18,000 copies sold, following the fulfillment of deluxe boxed sets sold exclusively via his webstore. BAEKHYUN’s “Essence of Reverie” debuts at No. 4 with nearly 10,500 copies sold. Kendrick Lamar’s former chart-topping “GNX” rises two spots to No. 5 with 8,000 copies sold (up 16%).

Rounding out the top 10: Jin’s “Echo” falls from 2 to 6 in its second week with just over 6,000 copies sold (down 82%), BOYNEXTDOOR’s “4th EP: No Genre” dips from 3 to 7 in its second week with 6,000 copies sold (down 57%), Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet” rises from 11 to 8 with nearly 6,000 copies sold (up 2%), Stereolab’s “Instant Holograms on Metal Film” debuts at No. 9 with almost 6,000 copies sold, and Sleep Token’s former leader “Even in Arcadia” falls from 4 to 10 with 5,500 copies sold (down 29%).
