Hot Hits Weekend Best Bets – 9/26-9/28/2025

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Residents and visitors in Columbus and around Central Ohio are gearing up for a lively weekend, as a variety of festivals, sporting events and community gatherings are scheduled from Friday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025.

Festivals Celebrate Fall and Local Culture

The annual Columbus Oktoberfest returns to the Ohio Expo Center, featuring traditional German food, music and family-friendly activities. Organizers expect thousands to attend the three-day event, which kicks off Friday evening and runs through Sunday. Admission is free, with food and beverages available for purchase.

In downtown Columbus, the Short North Arts District will host the Fall Gallery Hop on Saturday. More than a dozen galleries and local businesses will open their doors for art exhibitions, live music and special events between 4 and 10 p.m. Organizers encourage attendees to use public transportation due to expected heavy traffic and limited parking.

Community groups in Delaware and Grove City are also planning fall festivals, with farmers markets, craft vendors and children’s activities scheduled throughout the weekend.

Sports Fans Have Plenty to Cheer For

Ohio Stadium is expected to be packed Saturday night as the Ohio State Buckeyes host the Michigan State Spartans in a Big Ten football matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and university officials are reminding fans to arrive early to allow for security screenings.

Elsewhere, the Columbus Crew will face off against Atlanta United FC at Lower.com Field on Sunday afternoon, with playoff implications for both teams. Several local high school football teams will play Friday night, and the Nationwide Arena will host the Columbus Blue Jackets for a preseason hockey game Saturday.

Road Closures and Safety Reminders

The Columbus Division of Police has announced several road closures downtown and near the university district due to high pedestrian traffic and events. Motorists are urged to check local advisories and plan for delays.

Health officials are reminding residents to stay hydrated and take precautions if venturing outdoors, as late September temperatures in Central Ohio can still reach the upper 70s.

Looking Ahead

Organizers say the busy weekend signals the start of a robust fall season in Columbus and Central Ohio, with more festivals and community events set for October.
