FoodHaul Brings Chef Crafted Ready Meals to Upper Arlington

A chef-curated meal service offering restaurant-style dishes for reheating at home has launched in an Upper Arlington grocery store, marking the company’s entry into Ohio.

FoodHaul began providing its single-serving meals for pickup at Giant Eagle’s Kingsdale Market District, 3061 Kingsdale Center, on Dec. 12. The meals, which can be warmed in an oven or microwave, are designed for convenience, according to the company.

“This launch is about more than convenience,” CEO Bill Stavrou said in a news release. “It’s about bringing joy, creativity and true culinary craftsmanship to everyday eating.”

According to the company, the service offers “consistent, restaurant-quality meals without the time, effort or expense of dining out,” with prices typically ranging from about $15 to $24 per dish.

FoodHaul’s menu features dishes developed by chefs, including celebrity cooks Fabio Viviani, Rick Tramonto and Darryl Postelnick, known online as Cooking with Darryl.

The company debuted in Wilmette, Illinois, in 2019 and expanded to Carmel, Indiana, in March. The Upper Arlington location is FoodHaul’s third pickup site, though the company also ships meals nationwide.

Meals are prepared in FoodHaul’s Chicago kitchen and chilled using a proprietary process before being delivered to pickup locations or shipped to customers. Unlike subscription meal services, FoodHaul allows customers to purchase meals on demand.

The menu changes every Thursday, featuring new items and chefs. Recent offerings have included spicy rigatoni, shrimp fried rice, Thai curry salmon, braised short ribs and chickpea chana masala.

Each meal is labeled with a best-by date, typically three to five days from purchase. Heating times range from three to five minutes in the microwave or 12 to 15 minutes in the oven, according to the company’s website.
