DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — Muirfield Village is planning an extensive renovation of one of its neighborhood swimming facilities, which will include replacing the main pool, adding a rock wall, and constructing a new maintenance building.
The renovation plans for Muirfield’s 16-acre Glick Road Recreation Facility at 6716 Glick Road propose a new pool with a footprint similar to the existing one, incorporating modifications such as swimming lanes, a diving board, a rock wall area, and a zero-entry section.
The Ohio-based Mannik & Smith Group designed the renovation, which also includes replacing the kiddie pool with a circular splash pad. The existing fence will be replaced with a similar type but will be increased in height to six feet for enhanced security.
The concrete patio surrounding the pool will be redone with drains to collect chlorinated water runoff.
A new maintenance and storage building is also part of the plans. This building will house all pool equipment, eliminating the need to stretch a hose over the adjacent creek, which is currently the only method for delivering chemicals. Removing equipment from the existing basement will enhance safety for maintenance operations.
“The new pool equipment building is proposed to make the pool maintenance process safer for all involved, including the surrounding community,” the proposal states. “This new facility will be constructed alongside the new pool, which will replace the existing one. The building will match existing on-site structures in color and materials.”
Dublin’s planning and zoning commission unanimously approved the amended final development plan for the renovations during a meeting on June 5. The start date for construction is unclear, but Muirfield’s website indicates the complex will close for the season starting Aug. 15.
In addition to the Glick Road Recreation Facility, Muirfield also operates the Holbrook Recreation Facility at 8372 Muirfield Drive. Both facilities are exclusively for Muirfield residents and their guests and are open from noon to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends through Aug. 14.
