Cardi B Drops “Pretty and Petty” DIY Video While Addressing BIA Feud

Cardi B is embracing what she calls the “three P’s” of her life right now: pretty, petty and pregnant.

The Bronx rapper released a do-it-yourself visual for her track “Pretty & Petty” from her “Am I the Drama?” project on Sunday, Oct. 19. The video appears to be filmed either at home or in an office, with Cardi wearing a polka-dot dress that highlights her pregnancy.

Produced by DJ Swanqo, “Pretty & Petty” peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track gained attention for lyrics widely interpreted as disses aimed at rapper BIA. In the song, Cardi raps, “Name five BIA songs, gun pointin’ to your head/ Baow, I’m dead,” before dropping to the floor in the clip.

Later in the song, Cardi takes further shots at BIA, referencing her appearance and lack of awards: “I’d rather die on the surgery table/ ‘Fore I gotta walk around here lookin’ like you/ You wanna beef with me, are you sure/ Do she even got a BET award,” she raps.

Cardi has previously said she delayed releasing any video or content tied to “Pretty & Petty” out of respect for BIA’s album “BIANCA,” which was released Oct. 10.

“I’ma be nice to you because it’s your album day,” Cardi said in a video at the time. “I don’t want to add to your stress.”

In a recent interview with Billboard, BIA addressed her decision not to respond to Cardi on her own album. “If I was to ever address it again, I would never attach it to my album, because this is a beautiful body of work that I believe in,” she said. “I wouldn’t want to disservice this and overshadow it with noise or negativity.”
