Las Vegas Hotels Hike Room Rates Ahead of CES 2026 as Conventions Return

Las Vegas resorts are capitalizing on the return of major conventions in 2026 by sharply increasing room rates, according to a survey by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. After a disappointing financial performance in 2025, hotels are raising prices for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the first major convention of the new year.

When CES opens on January 6, 2026, the average rate for a hotel room on the Strip will be $262.14 per night. Downtown Las Vegas hotels are averaging $112.90 per night. The survey, conducted December 24, sampled 158 hotels, including 21 downtown properties, through Hotels.com listings.

While these averages are slightly below the rates charged for New Year’s Eve (average $293.82 per night Strip-wide, $194.79 downtown), luxury properties are seeking significantly higher prices for CES than for the holidays. Top rates reach $1,207 per night at Waldorf Astoria and $1,049 at The Venetian’s Prestige Club suites. Other notable prices include Aria at $951, Wynn and Encore at $849, and Bellagio at $707 per night. Off-Strip, prices are also elevated, with Palms Place Strip view suites at $961 and JW Marriott at $559.

In contrast, many downtown hotels are offering rates below $100, such as Plaza ($98), Four Queens ($94), El Cortez ($92), the D ($66), and Golden Gate ($53). The highest downtown rate is $467 at Element at Symphony Park.

CES, expected to attract 140,000 attendees, is the city’s second-largest annual trade show. The event will run January 6-9, 2026, at the renovated Las Vegas Convention Center, The Venetian Expo, and Aria, with media previews on January 4-5. The show will mark the debut of the convention center’s $600 million renovation.

Las Vegas resort executives are hopeful CES will kick off a record year for conventions, trade shows, and group business, helping the city recover from a sluggish 2025.
