St Lunatics Set for 2026 Comeback With Metro Boomin as Executive Producer

Nelly’s former group, the St. Lunatics, are planning a major comeback in 2026, with acclaimed producer Metro Boomin at the helm. The announcement came during Nelly’s Black and White Ball on December 14, 2025, where he revealed that Metro Boomin, also a St. Louis native, will serve as executive producer for the group’s upcoming album—their first release in 25 years.

During the annual charity event, Nelly told the crowd, “St. Lunatics, 2026, executive produced by Metro Boomin. St. Louis, we in the building! We turning up 2026 one time!”

This project will be the long-awaited follow-up to the St. Lunatics’ 2001 debut album, Free City, which dropped after Nelly’s solo breakthrough with Country Grammar.

The announcement comes on the heels of the group’s surprise reunion at the 2024 American Music Awards, where Nelly, Murphy Lee, Spud City, Kyjuan, and Slo Down performed fan favorites like “Air Force Ones,” “Ride Wit Me,” and “Hot In Herre.”

One notable absence at that performance was Ali, another original member of the group. Earlier in 2024, Ali filed a $50 million lawsuit against Nelly and the group, alleging unpaid royalties related to Country Grammar and insufficient credit for the group’s contributions. However, the lawsuit was eventually withdrawn, and the presiding judge later sanctioned the attorneys involved for bringing forth meritless claims.

There is currently no confirmation on whether Ali will participate in the new St. Lunatics album or if his relationship with Nelly has improved since the legal dispute. As anticipation builds, fans are looking forward to seeing if the full original lineup will reunite for this highly anticipated project.
