Just ahead of the new year, Harry Styles has released new music content for the first time in more than two years. On Saturday, Dec. 27, the pop star and former One Direction member debuted the official video for “Forever, Forever,” an instrumental song he first performed live on piano during his July 22, 2023, concert in Reggio Emilia, Italy. That performance marked the final show of Styles’ Love On Tour.
The video opens with two and a half minutes of footage showing fans outside RCF Arena before Styles’ last tour stop. The tour, which lasted two years, grossed $617 million and sold more than 5 million tickets.
Scenes in the video include friends braiding hair, celebrating after securing tickets, dancing together, and discussing their feelings about the final show. One fan says, “Some sadness because it is the last show… then he will disappear.” Others debate what Styles should wear on stage: dungarees, a suit with a jacket, or, as one fan suggests, “Better shirtless, sorry.”
The video then shows fans entering the venue as Styles’ piano is wheeled on stage. Styles tells the crowd he wrote “Forever, Forever” for them. The song, performed as an encore, had not been heard before that night.
At the end of the video, a message appears on screen: “WE BELONG TOGETHER.”
Although not included in the “Forever, Forever” video, Styles delivered a speech to fans during the July concert.
“I don’t get to do this if you guys don’t come,” Styles said. “I know that more than anyone else. You guys being here tonight, I know you wanted to make it special for me. You make it special for me every single night.
“The atmosphere that you have created, the family that you have created, this safe space that you have created. I want to thank you for everything,” he said.
“I know feeling so incredibly small in this world it can be really, really difficult to feel like anything you can do can make a difference. I promise you, I see it all the time in the little things that you do and the way that you treat each other. How it has affected all the people around me, how it has affected people out there, it is so much bigger. It does not end when this tour ends. I want you to continue it. Put love out into the world. It needs it a bit right now,” Styles said.
Styles’ previous music video was released in spring 2023 for “Satellite,” the fourth and final single from his album “Harry’s House.” The album, released in 2022, spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
