Columbus Water and Power Switching to Monthly Billing This Summer

Columbus Water and Power will move to monthly billing this summer, ending its quarterly billing system.

The utility notified customers about the change by letter. Columbus Water and Power, formerly the Department of Public Utilities, said monthly billing will improve bill accuracy and help customers manage payments.

The city said rates will stay the same, but customers may receive two bills during the transition period. Customers will not be charged twice for usage but may get a bill sooner than expected. Those enrolled in autopay do not need to re-register.

Customers who have not received a new water meter should contact the city.

Columbus Water and Power serves about 1.4 million people in central Ohio, providing water supply, treatment and distribution. The department also manages stormwater services and supplies municipal electricity to nearly 20,000 customers.
