KANSAS, originally a “garage band” from Topeka, achieved significant success after their debut album in 1974, thanks to being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner. Over their career, they have sold over 30 million albums worldwide, with a discography that includes fifteen studio albums and five live albums. The band has attained eight gold albums, three albums certified sextuple-Platinum—namely “Leftoverture,” “Point of Know Return,” and “Best of KANSAS”—as well as a platinum live album, “Two for the Show.”
Their singles “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind” have each sold over a million copies. KANSAS dominated the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks during the 1970s and 1980s, performing in sold-out venues across North America, Europe, and Japan. “Carry On Wayward Son” remains a staple in classic rock radio, being one of the top five most played songs, while “Dust in the Wind” has been played over three million times on the radio.
