LOS ANGELES (AP) — ZZ Top canceled its scheduled show at the Hollywood Bowl on Monday night, citing “insurmountable obstacles” and a “brief interruption” to the band’s current tour.
Refunds for the Aug. 5 concert are available at the original point of purchase, according to a statement from the band. ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons said, “Friends, fans and followers of ZZ Top are the best in the business and the band is counting on everyone to bear with us for this brief interruption.”
No new date for the Hollywood Bowl show has been announced.
Cheap Trick, who have been sharing tour dates with ZZ Top, quickly arranged a replacement show at the 300-capacity Troubadour in West Hollywood. Tickets for the last-minute concert sold out shortly after they went on sale.
Cheap Trick said in a statement, “The ZZ Top tour has unforeseen personnel matters that have forced the band to cancel its appearance at the Los Angeles landmark. In place of the now canceled scheduled Aug. 5th show, we will be playing a very special, intimate show at The Troubadour in West Hollywood.”
ZZ Top’s next scheduled appearance is Aug. 7 at the Saroyan Theater in Fresno, California. Cheap Trick is set to perform at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California, on Aug. 8.
